News from Canada!
The Swiss Medical Students' Association takes part in the preparatory Conference for next week's General Assembly of the IFMSA in Montreal.
Switzerland is strongly represented in Ottawa: 12 Swiss medical students are participating in various committees and working groups to get updated on the latest international public health projects, proceedings in medical education, and trainings in order to bring innovative project management methods back to their home country.
On Thursday, a swiss delegation was invited to the Swiss embassy in Ottawa in order to discuss the visa process that has at certain times proven to be too complicated in the past. As a result of this, a cooperation with the federal government's academic mobility program will be evaluated and hopefully established in the near future.
Furthermore, the topic of mutual acceptance of our federal exams was brought up. It would be desirable that Swiss graduates are able to have easier access to Canadian residencies and research positions and vice versa in order for them to acquire international experiences. In the course of euro-canadian agreements, there is a chance that mobility will become easier in the future. Swimsa is committed to continue making strong efforts in order to facilitate this process.
